王维平主编的《航海英语阅读》根据《STCW公约马尼拉修正案》通过后修订的中国海事局“海船船员适任考试航海英语考试大纲”和交通部航海类专业“航海英语阅读与写作教学大纲”编写。全书共8个单元，36课。第一单元介绍船舶基本知识、船舶结构和设备，第二单元介绍航行仪器及其使用说明书，第三单元介绍航海气象基本词汇及气象报告，第四单元介绍船舶操纵基本知识和航行规则，第五单元介绍航海出版物及通信，第六单元介绍货物运输基本知识及货运规则，第七单元介绍国际海事组织公约和规则，第八单元介绍航运文件。本书的目的是使读者通过大量阅读扩大航海英语专业词汇量，熟悉航海英语各种体裁，增加航海专业知识，提高航海英语阅读水平。本教材可供航海专业的大专院校学生使用，也可供船舶驾驶员参加适任证书考试使用，或作为广大船员提高英语水平的学习参考书。
